Tesla’s Model Y was the third best-selling electric car in China in less than three months since deliveries to the country started, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association.
- The mid-size SUV sold 4,360 units in February, and was the ninth-best seller among new energy vehicles in the first two months of 2021.
- Nationwide passenger car sales fell 45.5% in February from the previous month. In January and February, 3.34 million passenger cars were sold, with new energy vehicles accounting for 7.5%.
- Startups Xpeng and Li Auto posted a sharp decline in February deliveries to just over 2,000. Meanwhile, Nio doubled deliveries and announced a higher guidance for the year.
- Tesla’s Model 3 sedan was China’s best-selling electric car in 2020. It ranked second in February and the first two months of the year.
