British-founded broker Sotheby’s will accept Ether as the currency in a live auction of two artworks made by famed artist Banksy, Markets Insider reported.

  • Banksy’s two works will be auctioned in New York on November 18, with increments to be announced in Ether, marking the first time a digital token will serve as a standard currency for real-time bidding.
  • Aside from Ether, the winners of the auction will have the choice to pay with fiat currency such as the US dollar, Bitcoin, or USD Coin, which Sotheby’s will also accept.
  • The works to be bid out include ‘Trolley Hunters’ valued between $5 million and $7 million, and ‘Love Is In The Air’ valued between $4 million to $6 million, pushing Sotheby’s deeper into digital assets.

Sotheby’s started to accept cryptocurrency for artworks, accepting Ether and Bitcoin. ETH is down 3.52%, and BTC is down 2.78%.
