Spotify Technology SA announces steps to stop the spread of misleading information about Covid-19 on its audio-streaming platform, according to a report by Bloomberg on Sunday.

  • Spotify reported internal rules Sunday relating to what content is and is not allowed on its platform.
  • In a blog post, Chief Executive Officer Danil EK stated that the company would include an advisory to any podcast episode that relates to Covid-19. That advisory will direct listen to a platform providing more information about the pandemic.
  • The company is making an effort to end a growing insurrection among a vocal minority of users and musicians without alienating its popular podcaster.
  • Folk singers Neil Young and Joni Mitchell removed their music from Spotify last week protesting against Rogan, a popular podcaster who held several sessions with skeptics of the Covid-19 vaccines.

Spotify drafted rules relating to acceptable content on its service years ago and created a platform with Covid-19 information early in the pandemic. SPOT up +11.90%
