Russian President Vladimir Putin gives crypto enthusiasts optimism on the future of digital assets in the country, according to a report by CoinTelegraph on Thursday.

  • The Russian leader opened a Wednesday video conference stating that he would like to start with an issue in the spotlight, the regulation of cryptocurrencies.
  • In spring 2021, analysts noted that the price of electricity in Russia was $0.06 per kilowatt-hour for household consumption and $0.008 for business. 
  • In France, 1kWh is $0.2 for household use and $0.14 for business, four times more costly than in Russia.
  • The President called on the nation’s central bank to engage with the government in the near future to reach a consensus on the use of crypto.

Russia’s central bank had published a report last Thursday calling for a blanket ban on all local crypto trading and mining. The report pointed out the risks of crypto being much higher for emerging markets, including Russia. BTC USD down -3.19%
