Cardano’s ADA hit a fresh record-high on Wednesday as the platform shifted to the Alonzo upgrade which allows smart contracts, CryptoGlobe reported.

  • Input Output HK (IOG), which took the responsibility for the Cardano protocol, took to Twitter to announce that Testnet officially supports Plutus smart contracts as of 8:20 p.m. UTC.
  • IOG said final testing and integrations are coming, and the next major development will be the mainnet upgrade scheduled in two weeks’ time on September 12. The development was carried among major networks across the globe.
  • The announcement pushed ADA higher above the $3 level for the first time, hitting as high as $3.0965 at 5:58 UTC. This moderated to $3.0459 at 7:40 UTC, up 9.30% in the past 24 hours.

Non-fungible token artist Emma Lim was among the supporters of the developers, saying Cardano is the best project to invest in.

ADA is up 7.18%.
